almcd007 - Did you notice that I only became a little rude after people criticising and being sarcastic, and really not offering genuine advice. I think the only real advice came from Ethel and a couple of others who said an appeal would be worth a try. Just because we happened to genuinely forget to tax the car, they all came out of the woodwork to have a pop. Anybody would think I have committed a murder. If they were helpful and courteous I wouldn't have resorted to rudeness.
I have seen much of this with other threads on AB, where people just seem to have nothing better to do than go off on one for the sake of it. I could understand the rudeness if I had got pi$$ed out of my face and ran a child over, but come on! Like I said, I received a reminder for my car last month and duly taxed it. We didn't receive a reminder for my husband's car. I know DVLA don't have to send one, but they usually do, hence we've never forgot before. I just wish they would do something about the real culprits, such as the ones riding around in stolen cars without insurance. Oh well, you live and learn. You're right, I won't be doing it again. I certainly won't trust any of them, particularly when they're just out to make money out of genuine people, when the to$$ers get away with whatever they want. Finally, I would have thought that people would have read the actual question heading, before deciding if they need to reply. I know there were other questions within the text after, but by reading the original question, they would know whether to reply or not.
