Why,if a car's road tax depends on the CO2 level of that car, does the CO2 reading not appear on the MOT readout that you are given at the Mot.Only the CO and HC readings are taken so you cannot check if your car is in the correct bracket..

do you not get a seperate sheet with all the emissions and levels on it,with your mot.
No you don't Norman, just checked my read out it gives CO and HC only, My CO level is 0.00 % max is 0.20.
HC level is 067 ppm, max is 200ppm
A vehicle's taxation class has no relation to the MOT.

Cars registered before 1st March 2001 are taxed on the engine capacity. That is also not checked during an MOT.

Kempie you do not understand.Nowhere in the question did I say that taxation class was related to MOT but that it IS related to CO2 and this figure is not given out at the MOT.
The taxation class is on grams of carbon per kilometer as if the car was being driven. The MOT is carried out on a stationary vehicle so they cannot test that Co2 figure. I
I understand fully.

"Nowhere in the question did I say that taxation class was related to MOT..."

CO2 is related to Tax
Tax is not related to MOT

so why would CO2 be related to MOT?
