Hi, i have a problem with my car. When i turn the key, the battery seems flat and makes a clicking noise. When it gets a jump, it runs fine and i can turn it on & off. But when i go back to it the next day, it is flat and makes that clicking noise. I have changed the starter motor and battery. Could it be the alternator ? Please help.

if you have a permanent red light showing on your dash board,when car is running,then yes it is your alternator,not charging.but if not then you could have a light on somewhere,maybe the boot light, it could be staying on and draining the battery,check it out.

The red light comes on and goes off that usually comes on when the handbrake is applied. Do you mean that or the battery light ? Thanks.

Oh and i have disconnected the boot light some time ago.

the battery light,should go out when driving,if thats ok,then you have a drain of power somewhere,it could be a number of things,i would check it out with a auto electrician

Check the battery light comes on when the ignition is turned on and then goes out when the engine is started.
If the light does not come on with the ignition then check the bulb if the bulb has gone then the alternator will not work as the battery supply for the electro magnets in the alternator are supplied with power through this bulb.

I put an amp test on the car yesterday, and it showed no power from the alternator. So i am changing it today. Thanks.

i have changed the alternator,and jumped the car.it started off the key but then when i turned it off it would not start again.it is still making that clicking noise.do you think i need a new battery...........please help...............

I put a new battery on it and it is fine now,( fingers crossed). The light keeps on flickering on and off for the handbrake even though i have taken it off. Could the bulb be draining power ?
