i certainly wouldn't argue with your reasoning tubeway as i have had a friend killed by a hit and run driver, but you don't have to be speeding to injure or kill someone. there is always a reason for setting a certain speed limit on any road, and as by your own admittion, you have broken the limit on motorways on occasion. why then was it ok to do this, just because the road was designated a higher speed? like you said there is no excuse for breaking the speed limit but sometime we all do. as splatt knows, this time he was caught, but how many times has he got away with it? how many times have we all got away with it?
