5 Answers
Hi all. I'm thinking about buying a car for 1000. It's production year is 2000, it's a peugeot 306 with 2 airbags and air con, 1.3 engine size. Is this a good buy? Cheers for the help, Rob

I would want to see its service history, and whether it has had the cambelt changed. I would also want a full mot
A quick inspection will tell you whether it has been looked after, for example, I looked at a used skoda fabia, the rear wiper was missing, the aerial had been snapped off, and the badges were missing, I didn't look any further.
The car doesn't seem overpriced for its age/mileage.
I am buying a 1998 peugeot 306 TD GLX 1.9 for 1400 which has done 99,000 miles, which is nothing for this size engine/age of car.

Do you mean a 1.4 engine - Diesels were 1.9 on these cars, so the engine would have seen better days. It is difficult to say without seeing it (personally I would not but it) - you need to take somebody who knows their cars with you to have a look. I think you need to find out why the mileage is so high, has it got service history, and how it has been driven.
