AA is a joke
6 Answers
What a joke the AA have become, I have been a member 14 years and needed them at half past midnight last Saturday, battery on my volvo was flat, they told me 60 - 90 minute wait, 3 hours they took to get to me and then it wasn't the AA it was a local garage with a pick up truck, within 2 minutes I was on my way. The AA are in trouble I fear, 4th emergency service, don't make me laugh! I have today cancelled my membership and need another more reliable breakdown service, any ideas please. Green Flag look good but open to ideas, thanks.

Last year one reached me in about 20 mins- mind you M25 middle of the morning but it was a Saturday. Missus changed her car year before last and got a years free Green Flag with it so binned the AA. When the car broke down- engine management problem they came out and looked at it, confirmed it was an engine management problem, suggested a couple of garages and left her to arrange it! Needless to say went back to the AA smartish

they do use a lot of local garages but Ive never had a problem with them.
They do prioritise calls though I think. From your name am i to assume you are male, if so a lone female would take priority over you.
Plus they dont keep thousands of breakdown vehicles on the road so at peak times they may already be on a call that they have to finish before getting to you.
Did you ask them to keep in touch about the time theyd arrive?
Ive been with the AA who i found to be very good when called and now have recovery etc through my insurers. When i called them out over easter they sent a RAC / small garage recovery vehicle to me, who arrived with 30 mins and recovered my vehicle to my home address which took a ferry crossing and a 6 hour drive. I was very impressed with it.
Worth asking your vehicle insurer, some even cover for costs occured, i am being refunded the cost of getting the recovery vehicle on ferry and am covered for up to 3000

i know this is about the AA but i have had worse with the RAC. i broke down on a roundabout in my classic car with my wife, it was freezing cold, and after explaining that she had to get home for her medication, a private firm turned up 3 hours later. to make matters worse he said he couldn't fix it and i told him if i had the tools i could do it myself. he gave me what i needed and i fixed it and drove home. i was really pi55ed off!!
