They are marketing ploys. The driving school will be making a fortune. Possible two or three pupils in a car taking turns at driving and observing. Unless you have additional practice eg. with mum or dad during that short period (when you will be too knackered) it is very unlikely you will be ready for a test let alone coping with traffic conditions on your own if you did pass.
A lot of schools guarantee first time pass on intensive courses, if not they will pay for the test until you pass. The fee for the second and subsequent tests are very little compared with the additional lessons you will have to pay for.
Tread carefully.

I totally agree with dilligaf. My brother and mum went on one a few years ago.
A, It was extremely expensive
B, My brother passed at the end (no other fees were involved although the course was enough money itself!), he's since been banned from driving several times and basically cannot drive very well!
C, my mum never passed, so it was a total waste of time!
If I were you I'd take normal lessons, much better.
P.S. I took normal lessons, passed first time and am a brilliant driver lol
