It's unusual for me to side with Norman but he's correct in stating that you don't need to take any documentation an MoT test.
When you take a vehicle which has already got an MoT certificate, and that certificate still has a short while left to run, it's advisable to take the old certificate because the new one will be dated to expire one year after the existing one does (rather than one year from the date of the test).
Similarly, if a first MoT is carried out shortly before it's actually required, it's advisable to take the V5C because the MoT certificate will be dated to expire 4 years after the date of registration, rather than 1 year after the date of the test.
