Anyone used one of these gadgets that plug into the cigarette lighter socket when the battery is disconnected?
Are they any good? Also, would it be possible to connect a battery-charger to an accessory plug and charge the battery through this socket?

are you on about something to stop your radio losing its memory when you disconect the battery?
if you are you could just connect another battery to the battery teminals with croc clips then take the old battery off and slip a new one in.
the batteries would be ok if you connect the pos teminal of the spare to the pos lead & the neg to the neg.(just like jump starting.)
second part of your Q
if the accessory socket stays live with the ignition off then you can charge through it. only trickle charge though. alternatively, try connecting a double socket directly to the battery and fitting it in the grille area. (make sure it has a waterproof plug seal ) then using the other half of the plug/socket attatch that to the battery charger. (maplins item # JG04E , but with a waterproof cover. )
don't forget to put something on the keyring, drivers seat or steering wheel to remind you that you're pluged in.
