Fiesta using almost double amount of petrol
My (97) Ford Fiesta Ghia X 1400cc. is using almost double the amont of petrol than it should??? Long or short trips doesn't make any difference at all!. Taken it to FORDS but they didn't find any leaks or anything? Anyone have any ideas?????? PLEASE

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.when you say,its using almost double, what do you mean,a car like yours,being 10 yrs old and a 1.4 should get you about 25/28 miles or even less, to the gallon,dont think you are going to get anymore then that,maybe you would if it were a new car,but over the yrs it goes down as the car gets older,to get the most out of your car,it needs to be serviced regular,driven properly and the engine in a very good condition,what is the mileage,about 80k.try having it tuned up by one of these mobile tuning guys,that might help.

Really???? not sure about 25/28 miles to a gallon.
Even "FORDS" said I should be getting more like 34/36 to the gallon- 55ish miles to �10's is bad!!!! A full tank used to get about 300miles......lucky to get 170 to a FULL one now????
It's had all it's services to date 65,000 miles now.
I had a 1600cc Fiesta- that was 10 years old at the time- but that did 150 miles to a �10- I know that was going back a few years back and petrol was cheaper !!!!
