The M41 (at 0.7 miles) ceased to be a motorway in 2000; it is now part of the A3220.

There are a few motorways of around 1 mile length; M898, A66(M), A601(M), A823(M) and A8(M) (Northern Ireland).

However, the A308(M) is around 0.6 miles and the A64(M) is around 0.35 miles.

The M3 in Northern Ireland (over belfast) is 0.8 miles long

I never understand why you get such road designations as the A1(M) - surely, it's either an "A" road OR a motorway?
