Hey, I think I am in the wrong but would like some other people's views on this.
I was on a dual carriage way , but going through a 30mph area around a mountain cliff, and put my foot down as I could see the national speed limit signs coming up, but not to my knowledge there was a police car at the side of the road. The police car never came after me. I have been told by a friend that the police cars don't have a device to give you points. The only way they can is by coming after you.
Does any one have any ideas of views on this?
Dave.

Saying you speeded up because you could see the national speed limit signs coming up is not a valid excuse that would wash with the police. However, if they didn't come after you, I'd imagine you got away with it this time.
The speed limit changes at the point where the signs are located. Therefore if you exceeded the 30 before the sign you are in the wrong.
Many police cars are fitted or carry with them devices to catch you speeding, including the evidence of two experienced traffic officers.
They do not need to follow or catch you up.
