Insurance for a Fairway taxi as a private car?
Hiya folks - I have just bought an ex-London taxi (actually it's in Coventry), a Fairway FX4, and I have been trying in vain to find someone who will insure it as a private car - it's not on any of their standardised lists.
Can anyone help me with this? There are loads of people who have FX4s as their family cars, so there must be someone who does it. It's not old enough for classic insurance. Thanks in advance -

But do go to at least 2 brokers for the best quotes.
You could try phoning this company - a free number. I would be interested to know how well they deal with you.

I found his on the website of a firm that sells ex-London taxis for use as private cars:
"Who can give me a quote for my taxi?
You can try CSI (Co-Operative Insurance Services) or Tesco Insurance or Norwich Union. You will have to phone rather than use the website quote system. Be sure to explain that you want to use the taxi for private driving".

Hi, I tried the policy shop, both online and over the phone but they were unable to insure my Carbodies Fairway. Online, there is a London Taxis option from the drop down menu but, when I clicked "Find My Car", the only options available were from 1997 onwards and my car was manufactured and registered in 1989, that's why I tried phoning. Still no luck as yet!
