Speeding
I was recently pulled over on the A1M for speeding. The officer clocked me doing 103.1 mph over a distance of 0.8 miles. He said i now have to wait for a court summons but will most likely be banned from driving. I was prosecuted over 3 years ago for doing 91mph in a 60mph zone and got 6 points and a fine but the points are cleared now. What is the likelyhood of me losing my licence as i need it for my job and have the main income at home?

"If I was to target drivers doing 80 and above I would do virtually everybody on the motorway, but that would just clog up the system. People are speeding all the time but you have to be sensible. I am after the really dangerous drivers, people doing 90mph and above. They'll get an automatic fixed penalty. Anyone doing over 100mph will be prosecuted and in most cases disqualified."
So it looks like you'll be losing your license.

122 in a 60? not even a motorway? ooh Loosehead - the Good old magistrates bench book doesn't go above a 40mph excess speed in that range!
In a 70 an excess speed of 21-30mph is 42 days disqualify and 56 day disqualify for 31-40 excess both cases are a category B (2 weeks wages) fine.
There is specific guidance to magistrates to ignore the fact that people may loose their jobs if banned although there have been a few rare cases where it's worked the chances are very very small.
The mitigating factors that seem most effective are in cases where other people (not family) will suffer. For example where people do charity work that they'll be otherwise unable to do but unless you can show hard evidence of this I think you'll need to brace yourself for at least 6 weeks without a car

If it's of any help or guidance, I was done (about ten years ago) for doing 104mph on a motorway and got a 200 pound fine and six points....no ban and didn't have to appeal to the court on grounds of hardship or anything like that.
I was told at the time that I was lucky because they had just upped the automatic ban from 100 to 110mph.
That was in Scotland so may be different where you are.

Well thanx everyone, i am kinda getting used to the idea that i am gunna lose my licence. Although i have sent a letter to the Chief Constable of Herts police to show my remorse, and have a letter from my boss to say i need my licence to work otherwise i am useless. So heres hoping i get the fine and 6 points!
How remorseful can you be when its your second offence? If you need your licence for your job so badly you should have thought about that before you drove at such ridiculous speeds. Yes I speed on the motorway to some extent but to do over 100mph is downright dangerous whatever the road conditions and as for doing 91 in a 60 that is even worse.
You deserve to lose your licence it might make you think twice about driving at that speed again.

Excuse me but who the hell made you judge jury and executioner!
I had not had my licence for long when i first got caught and admit i was a stupid kid!
Since that first offence i have always kept myself under control, as you said, i too have just crept above the speed limit, mainly on motorways.
On this occasion it was a momentary lapse of concentration as to what speed i was doing. It is a new car which i only picked up 4 days previous and the acceleration is a hell of a lot better than my previous car.
I am very remorseful as i have know people who have died/seriously injured from accident caused by exessive speed. And who are you to make judgement on me from one damned question on here.
So yes i know i have done wrong but how dare you tar me with the same brush as the people out there who speed excessively day after day.
I came on here to ask a simple question, and i have had some sensible answers from others. But i suppose there always has to be some self righteous git out there who thinks he is better than the rest of the world. You have the whole god complex down to a tee mate. Surely you have better things to do with your life than come on here and slag people off for making a "mistake" Or perhaps you dont, hence why you are here

oooh!!! no need to be so narky g_fort, christ I wasn't tarring you with any brush but you must expect that a question like that is not always going to get a response you want. Yes I have got a life I am on here probably for 10-15 minutes a day so does the same apply to you? Your question did make it sound like you drove at those speeds all the time having been caught twice already and I do know what you mean about having a new car and not noticing extra power but to not notice an extra 30mph over the speed limit is a bit of a poor excuse I think. I will be sorry if you end up losing your licence if it affects your child but all I was thinking at the time was like you said about innocent people who die in high speed road accidents because of irresponsible drivers and the emergency services who end up scraping their body parts off the road so if you are a normally careful driver and it was the one time you have ever driven at that speed for 0.8 seconds and you were unlucky enough to get caught then I apologise for my comments but if I am honest I find that hard to believe.

While I'm tempted to join in the comments of others, I'll stick to just one piece of serious advice:
Please don't tell the magistrates that you'd only had the car for 4 days and you weren't familiar with its acceleration. If you do, they're likely to take the view that anyone driving a new car, which they're not fully used to, should be exercising extra caution and checking their speedo even more often than they normally would. i.e. you could make matters worse for yourself, rather than better.
