Peugeot 306 1.9td on veg oil

I have been told that my 1998 (s reg) pug 306 td can run on straight veg oil with no engine adjustments or additives to the veg oil,has anyone done this?

not strictly true !.this time of year you can get away with 50/50 diesel /veg oil and you can get a pre heater that goes before the fuel filter to thin the veg oil out before entering the fuel pump (dead easy on a pug!)lots from older pugs at the scrappiesyou can run it in the hot weather om 100%used chip shop oil not beef dripping for obvious reasons! anothr good source is old folks homes as they are always cooking stuff in veg oil but you have to, thats HAVE to filter it thoroughly to remove any impurities but there are lots of other bits and bobs to consider before you just throw it in the tank there are lots of websites on how to do this if you type in the words diesel ,chip oil etc of course you have to let the right people know that you are using alternative fuels or they get very cross and come in the night with big dogs and take you away (only kidding! but you get the idea regarding tax on fuel etc!

I would not recommend straight vege oil unless you have the two-tank conversion fitted.
If you continue to use 100% vege your pump will fail, vastly outweighing the savings you have made on fuel.
Believe me, it happened to my mate.
If your car has a Bosch pump you might get away with a 50/50 blend. If it's a Lucas CAV, forget it.
Don't forget, vege oil is 4-5 times more viscous than diesel so you might consider thinning it down with Kerosene.

A Bosch system will run on 100% veg oil with no mods at all, it's seals are designed to resist biofuels- German fuel regulations require this to be the case, which is why you'll never find a Lucas pump on a german market car.

The main problem you'll encounter is that the extra viscosity of veggie oil will cause problems with starting and waxing in cold weather, so unless you use a twin tank and start up on diesel, you'll need to reduce the veggie mix for winter, other than that with a Bosch system you will encounter no problems at all: my Bosch system has fed my XUD neat veggie for the last 200000 miles or so, i only chuck pump diesel in when it gets frosty....... the jury is still out on the Lucas rotodiesel pump: somer people have run it for years on veggie with no probs and some have suffered spindle seal leaks: in this case the seal is pretty easy to change and the actual Lucas injectors don't seen too fazed by veggie oil, the leaks always seem to appear at the pump.

i own a 89 S-reg pug 306 non-turbo, i run on straight veg oil with no engine adjustments or additives, and all that needs done to the car after 20,000 miles is the injectors need cleaned(not replaced), but you may need new glow plugs every while, there is a possibility of the piston rings sticking. can also use kerosene but i dont like to
