I connected a handsfree to my car radio and as a result had to re-enter the security code. Firstly I was givin the wrong code so I used three attempts. Im down to seven attempts and have the right code now but the radio will not let me enter any code at all. The screen reads 7 then 0234. Any ideas as to whats up? The car is An Astra with a VDO radio.

I don't know the exact answer but many radios shut down after 7 attempts, allowing only a dealer reset, or a few days wait before a new attempt is allowed.

hi leave the power on your radio for at least an hour and this should reset the radio ready for code entry
