The cam belt recently snapped on my fiesta. i have fitted a new cylinder head and cam belt kit. The engine runs but when i took it for a drive it was dramatically down on power
Is this a timing/fuelling problem?
Is there anything i can check before sending it to the local garage?

It's possible that the pump timing is out, did you use the timing pegs when setting up the cam belt?
If the timing on the injector pump is out even a little bit it'll run like a three-legged donkey.
Agree with the above- it sounds as if the pump pulley is one or two teeth out on the belt putting the injector timing right out.

would be quite hard for the pump timing to be out. its driven by a seperate belt. when you buy a timing belt kit for this engine it comes with 2 belts.

That's the point, davros states that he's fitted a kit, by that I assumed he'd fitted the timing belt and the pump belt.
If the pump belt isn't set up right by pegging it and slackening the three bolts on the pump sprocket to get the right tension it will run, but run badly. It's very easy to set up the pump wrong if you've not had much experience of this set up.
Contact normanthedog who is very knowledgeable and will be able to sort this out for you.
