For example you very rarely get a 320 with a widescreen TV & Sat nav etc - they're usually found on the 325/330 end. BMW are notorious for not giving much away - evrything's an option. Have a good look on BMW's used car network this will give you examples of the spec in the age and model of the car you are looking at. I assume, I apologise if you are not, that you are looking at 3 series - you'd rarely get the kind of spec you'd find on a Mondeo Ghia X in a 3 series unless the buyer ordered all the extras. If there's something you can't do without - heated seats/ alloys/CD radio etc - you can search the BMW used car website and select cars with the extras you need. Unfortunately you wont find any BMW with a heated front screen as found in your Mondeo though.

thanks for you comments chaps, or ladies! I am not sure what to look at/test drive as I am currently looking into the different veriations. I will have about 10-12k inc. my 02 mondeo once sold to play with. My new car must be a diesel and i am hoping to get something from 2000 onwards for my money.
They're not a heated front windscreens then are they Zacmaster?
All cars have blowers - BMW's dont have the heated element front windscreen, like Fords have, BMW's have a quick windscreen demist button which uses the blowers - but you wont find a BMW with a heated front screen so what I said was actually correct.

"Unfortunately you wont find any BMW with a heated front screen as found in your Mondeo though." "as found" being the key phrase.
All cars have a facility to clear the front windows using the blowers either by specific setting or by a special switch. There's no implication in my post that there's no facility to clear a windscreen - thats just ridiculous - I suggest you read it again.

You need glasses, surely. You're winding me up right ?
"Unfortunately you wont find any BMW with a heated front screen as found in your Mondeo though."
You wont find any BMW with a heated front windscreen as found in the Mondeo. Fact
Why does that imply that BMWs dont have a feature to clear the windscreen? I havent said that or implied the other. I was comparing the Mondeos features with a BMW's.
Good grief !

You've totally read the answer wrong.
A BMW DOES NOT HAVE A HEATED WINDSCREEN AS YOU WILL FIND IN THE MONDEO.
To spell it out as it obviously needs to be done -
I was comparing features as madmondeo wanted to know what features BMW have in direct comparison to his Mondeo.. I know, and he does, that a Mondeo Ghia has an electrically heated front windscreen, similar to the type that most cars have in the rear, inlaid with fine metal wires which carry direct heat to the glass. This is a heated windscreen.
A demister function is not a "heated windscreen"
You are wrong zacmaster - BMWS dont have heated winscreens, as you will find in the mondeo. I was not implying that BMWS dont have the ability to demist their windscreens - if you read the answer - you will see that I am comparing like for like. I used the word "unfortunately" because madmondeo might have been wanting that same feature in his BMW - something he cant have.
eyebrows - I am a BMW driver - however I have explained myself very comprehensively - it is zacmaster who has misread my answer and is mistaken about his facts. And how often do you get into a conversation with a BMW driver that involves reasoning ? No one's "blagging class" here - just trying to answer a question and certainly I don't need to "get over myself"
