A bit confused : do you drive with a passenger, eg. your husband , in the car, or not at all?
If you don't drive at all, don't start driving with your husband in the passenger seat! Take a lesson from a driving instructor and get your husband to sit in the back seat. He'll then see how good a driver you are.
If you do drive the car with your husband as a passenger already, then go with the idea of an early morning drive, even if it's in, for instance, the local cinema's car park...if there's one near you.
Good luck!

when i passed my test my dad bought me a little fiesta, not power steering, which i disliked but i still drove it with my hubby nx to me. then i took it out on my own and some white van man intimidated me to reversing down this rd, there was no where for me to go other than reverse and it was my right of way. so that put me off slightly, i didnt drive that car again, then we got an escort, i have driven once with hubby next to me and that was during an arguement when i just came out with "IM DRIVING NOW", it was alright until nerves got better of me. i really really want to do this, but im such a low esteem person. my old driving instructor wont help me out. and i passed first time with him.

As an ex driving instructor, I would have a couple of refresher lessons in your own car to get used to that, having done that, as soon as your last lesson is over, take your car on a short drive round a block on your own and back, you will feel pleased that you done it, and may want to do it again if so do it again or go a bit further. I used to do this with all my pupils that had cars, after there test because it does feel strange with nobody sitting next to you and the feeling that if anything happends there is nobody to help, once you have done this you will feel great I promise.
All the best with it.
P.S. B.S.M will do this or most private schools will they may insist that you use a driving school car for the first lesson but will be happy to use yours for the second.

Ya gotta go out early in the morning by yourself and do a simple short drive when nobody's around. This will familiarise you with all the local lanes and junctions etc to anticipate and give you your much needed confidence. It would be a good idea to do it bit by bit, not necessarily go out onto busy fast roads with major roundabouts when it's busy although you will cope because that is why you passed your test! But I know why you are scared. That is why I think you should just take it one step at a time and set realistic goals. Before you know it you will be hitting the motorways with no probs whatsoever. Happy driving.
