at what intervals does the cam belt need changing - i was told every 60k is this the case?

I had a nissan some time ago and the hand book stated change the cambelt every 40,000mls, so it may depend on the car but I would say somewhere between 40 and 60,000 at least, better to change it to soon than have it break on you and damage the valves, as you are looking at more expence.
the haynes manual suggests 60,000 miles to change timing belt,or 5years average motoring.
