Gosport bridge?
Why is there no bridge or car ferry between Portsmouth and Gosport? Do they actually want everyone in Gosport to shop in Southampton instead (as they do)?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.They are all the naval staff who live across the water and mainly have to drive 15 miles to a decent supermarket as they don't want to carry all the bags on the ferry and walk another mile to Alverstoke. The point is they did have a bridge once which floated and was removed after the war, and a car ferry is the obvious solution but they refuse to have one. It must be the shortest gap outside the Amazon without a bridge and such a long drive as an alternative.
