i had an accident,in June driver didnt give me his name?

I had an accident in (2005) june , the driver didnt give me his name, he knew mine (I told him), ....7 months later his veihicle had been repaired, my insurers had been approached about an accident in June 2005 , bearing in mind the notification to my insurers was made by the other party to my insurers, in FEBUARY 2006........my reply was to my insurers, is that "THE DRIVER OF MY VEHICLE WASNT INSURED ON MY POLICY", so my insures were not obliged to get involved, the damgage to my vehicle was minimal, superficial bumper repair" , the other parties damage was minimal, but the repairs on thier car was an exaggerated �500+ , for basically the repainting of a grill , it wasnt broken, it needed filling /spraying only......... my NCB wasnt effected ,the other party payed �175 excess, dont know if he lost his NCB , his car was a LHD CAMARO, he was a bout 4ft 11, could he see over the bonnet !!!, (he didnt report it to the police, surprise surprise) , any simalar or unsimalar tales ?????
