Hi - I am thinking of buying a used Peugeot 206 Convertible - can anyone offer any advice on the car?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.They do the job nicely and, are easy to find to prices are cheapish. Insurance is group 9-14 depending on engine. They are only a 2+2 seater. Only children really fit in the back, and if the driver is over 6 foot you will get no-one behind them. Boot is large with roof up, OK with it down. The 2.0 hates town driving, and will eat petrol, on a run its very good..
Check for smooth operation of hood.
Buy one made 2003 or newer, they adjusted the seals on the hood so they dont squeak as much.
If going for a 2.0 make sure of service history, they get tappy engines if not looked after.
Also on the 2.0 the rear silencer/join with midsection pipe are prone to rusting away and are very expensive to replace. Non Peugeot replacements are cheaper but do not sit nicely under the car. Don't but a 1.6 without alloys, they did do some cheap version with hubcaps but shop around.
