ford mondeo remote locking key preblems

I had a new battery fitted now the remote doesn't work is it possible to DIY the re code or do I have to take it to ford dealer to re code or a new key purchase

You can do it yourself. if it's the radio transmiting type as opposed to the infrared type (Ford fitted both types)

First open the car with the key and lower the drivers side window.

get out of the car and lock the door with the window still open.

Wait till the alarm LED on the dash board starts to blink and reach in through the window and insert the key in the ignition and turn it on until the dash lights come on.

The LED will light constantly for about two secs then go out. Your key should now be reprogrammed with the correct code.

remove the key point it at the car and press the button :)

Hi Phil thanks for post I'm sure my remote is the radio type 1999 vintage and have tried your method without response.
Although you did not mention whether to double/hazard/ lights flash or single lock with the window open I did try it with both though thanks I will try again in the morning Tez

disconnect central locking control module green plug under o/s dash leave for 5 Min's reconnect it will then work .that's all you need to do

Thanks for all the post but I am still minus remote Phil when I put my arm through the side open window and turn the key to on, the alarm sounds immediately and I have to unlock the door to silence it and abort the process.
pauln and tigga i have gone through all the variants and get the LED dash light to respond on for 20 seconds but there is no response when I press unlock or lock buttons within that time.
Big Bri not quite sure where the central locking control module is when I remove the green plug what part does the key play I need a bit more info on that one Bri .
I will have to have another go time permitting thanks again all Tez
