Windscreen Defrosters or Best methods

I've had my first windscreen freeze up of the winter - what are your favourite defrosting products or methods?

dont use hot water,use a de icer spray from supermarket,quite cheap.

As soon as I'm dressed and while I'm getting ready for work I let my car warm up but without full heat on the windscreen as this makes the car take longer to warm up.

when you get in, put everything to full heat and the windscreen.

Or..... Cover the windscreen the evening before with something so frost doesn't form.

Definitely don't use hot water though. I was working in London a few years ago on a railway site. It had snowed all day then froze so I left my car for a good 15 mins to warm up. An engineering graduate (theoretically a smart lad) came out with a kettle of freshly boiled water and proceeded to poor it all over his windscreen.

well you lot ,i always use warm water when i can
obviously not boiling,
it will normally stop the inside misting up as well

i cant stand the bloke over the road from me, he warms his up at 5.30am & it's a diesel - ****.
i tried to run mine to warm up, but these days you CAN'T lock the car with the spare so that nobody steals it.

I hate driver that struggle to see out of their windows,
that tiny patch that they clear.

Buy a Ford. Heated front windscreen and washer nozzles are an option on all cars. They are brilliant! You can also get them on Jags (as Ford owns Jaguar), but I can't understand why they don't license it to other manufacturers.

get a cover. they stop any ice forming and my mrs loves it at 5;30 when all she has to do is take it off and leave it in the porch ( for me to put on that evening.)

I run a lead from the house into the car and use an old heater/blower on a low setting. It defrosts all the windows and warms the car up a treat.
NB. Not recomended if your car is parked at the other end of the street.

I put a hot water bottle on the dash

I fill an empty 4 pint milk carton with slightly warm water and pour it over the windows. It then goes into the handily placed recycling wheely bin.

On very cold days it needs a second dose, but you can see easily if this is needed.

Never use hot or you might crack the screen.

I bought a de-icer spray for 48p from ASDA. What can I say I am a lazy sod and pretend to be ethical and eco-aware but you can't knock those prices for an aerosol.
But I am going to buy a scraper and some cardboard in the longer term....
