BMW Bluetooth

I recently got an O2 Cocoon phone. Then I got a new BMW 3 series with bluetooth. When I try to make a call using the handsfree, my phone dials the number and connects to whoever I'm phoning, but it isn't transmitted into the car, so I can't hear anything, and the person on the other end can't hear me. If somebody phones me, it works perfectly well, so there's nothing wrong with the connection. I've tried it with a couple of friends phones and they work fine. I've played around with all the settings on the phone but nothing works.
