Western world now rid of most of the debilitating and lethal dieases with blighted lives in 19th century

Electricity is 19th Century
With regard to this country it has to be the National Health Service if you mean innovation.
Nothing else has improved the daily lives of ordinary people in this country as much as that countless number of us owe our lives to it.
In terms of inventions - has to be anti-biotics.
Before anti-biotics dozens of illnesses like TB or syphylis were death sentences and a simple cut turned gangrinous could kill you.
Do without anti-biotics or the Internet?
Not a difficult choice really is it?

The NHS is quite important .... a pay out for all the deaths of the first and second world wars - but there are many others ....
