Hi, my Peugeot 307 makes a clunk sound when steering left or right, when driving in WET weather. The noise comes from the front but doesn't really do it in dry weather. I've had the car regularly serviced with Peugeot but they don't seem to be able to offer me an answer.

A clunking sound on front wheel drive vehicles is often a sign of excessive wear on a CV joint.

It should be more noticeable with the steering locked hard right or left. Wet weather should not really make a difference, unless you are accelerating to the point where your tyres are loosing grip.

With time, it will get worse and ultimately you will loose drive long before you loose drive, the clunking should be constant enough for your garage to hear it.

It can be difficult to determine which of the 4 CV joints is failing. In the past, when replacing them myself, I have run along side the car, listening to determine which CV joint is clunking.
I have a fantastic image of Hymie running beside his driverless car, steering through the window while listening to it.
For the sake of brevity, I omitted to mention that this was all a long time ago, when I had friends and the ability to run.
Sadly, with the passage of time, I now have neither.
