40mph Brigade
There are a lot of drivers on Britain's roads who only seem to do 40mph no matter what kind of road they are on. I thought maybe they were being extra cautious on fast roads but they still do 40mph in urban areas where they should be doing 30mph. Can anyone tell me why 40mph?
I would particularly like to hear from someone who does this.
Thanks

It seems predominant in a certain age group and type of person - of 'mature' years and smug about their 'safe' driving. They probably class themselves as perfect drivers.
Sorry, as I don't drive like this myself (and I am probably in this age group!) I cant tell you why they can't see what there problem is. All I know is it is extremely irritating when you can't get past them on the deregulated roads and then they are miles ahead in the 40mph areas. They are irritating and dangerous.

Irritating drivers?
Are these people related to those who feel compelled to turn on their rear fog lights as soon as visibility drops below three miles ?
Or the ones who drive to work (assuming they possess sufficient intelligence to have a job) early in the morning in semi-darkness and fog, but feel no need to have any lights on ?
Or those who brake at every bend and curve in the road ?
But the worst by far ( and the most dangerous) are those who creep along at an unreasonably low speed, but then accelerate as soon as anyone attempts to overtake them.
