After taking a break of 15yrs from green laning, we decided to get back into it. We got the new Landy at the weekend. Most of the lanes we used to go on are now closed, we are having trouble trying to locate some more. Has anyone good knowledge of where we can go? We are prepared to travel to the lakes and north yorks too! Any advice welcomed!! Ta!

what ? I have been in Lancashire since 1958 and noone told me about green lanes, please tell me you do not intend churning up country lanes with a fancy land rover that one would normally use to collect ones sprogs from school in
Question Author
No its not a fancy landdover, and a green lane is a byway open to all traffic, byways are looked after by the national park authority to ensure they are not 'churned up'.
so which did u use 15 years ago that I might know then? Did u ever go up Rivi or over belmont?

We used to go on Garburn Pass, Walna Scar, Parka Moor and numerous others that I just cant remember the names of. I have never heard of the ones you mentioned, where abouts are they?

Have a look at this website -

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/

It's a dedicated Land Rover forum and covers almost everything.
How come they've been closed, emmalee? I thought it was illegal to close a byway to wheeled vehicles.
Question Author
They have been closed because the lakes national park authority are uncertain about the original classification of the lanes, and are waiting for clarification from defra. It seems it may only be a footpath/bridleway, in which case it would be closed to all mechanically propelled vehicles.
