counterpart license

i have picked up a form from the PO to send my photocard license off to get the address changed, but on the form it says i have to send the counterpart with the plastic license, I havn't a clue where that is, what is the importance of this counterpart anyway? It says if u have lost either that or the license you have to pay foir another one, but it's a big piece of paper, how are you supposed to look after that? I had my old [paper license for 20 years and never lost it, because I kept it in my handbag, but this thing is too big, it's annoying.

its the main part Dot, it records all the ehm points etc on yer license(or not) and is really important

ok, I get that they need to have something like that, but why have they made it so uncarryaroundable?

i only carry my license now cos its a wee card, never did when it was a paper job - did you?

yes I did, the old pink one always fitted in the inside zip pocket of any handbag I hadm and it was in a plastic holder toom these big things are just badly designed, i have looked everywhere for it except the place it is in, i think i may have already packed it so i bet it's in a sealed box somewhere grrrrr

Sorry to intervene between you girls but why not put all important documents in a plastic envelope and keep them in a folder somewhere safe? My idiot son (not really) used to be the same until I put him right, and he`s 37.

It says on the counterpart piece of the licence the card and the counterpart should always be kept together and shown together when required.
