If It was my car Norm Houlder I would change it at 50.000 for the price of a belt to the cost of the belt snapping is one hell of a difference, Looking at your mileage for the year, the car has not done much, It should on avarage cover at least 10.000 per year. T.W.R.
The timing belt should be replaced every 40,000 miles - if your car has only 46k on the clock and is 9 yrs old then it has time expired as well.
cant believe a car has lasted 9 years with the same timing belt!!!! i think i would change it norm!!! im presuming its the older 1.2 engine? thats belt driven. the new engine (ecotec) is chain driven and doesnt require replacement.
