Immobilising my car immobiliser

After several months of electrical problems with my Renault Clio I have been told by my garage that it would be a good idea to remove the immobiliser instruction from my car computer, thus enabling me to start the car with any key that will fit the ignition barrel. I have been assured that this will cure all my electrical problems. My question is - should I inform my Motor insurance company that this work has been carried out and if so what would be the likelihood of my premiums increasing as a result? Any comments would be most appreciated.

yes, you should inform them, otherwise if the car is stolen and the imobiliser is not working, they could refuse to pay out, phone them up and ask them.and see if it adds more money on your premium.
