I have just got my new car. The dealer has urged me to have: Gard X Protection. Some coating that goes on the paint to protect it etc. As recomm by Mike Brewer of C4's 'Driven' no less! Is it any good? Is it worth it? Will it spoil the look of the paintwork? Thanks.

Just the dealers way of sqeezing as much cash out of you as possible.
It is a good profit source for the dealer. It costs them less than 35 including paying the valeter - how much are they charging you ?

it is very good,we use it,but, its expensive for what it is and does not last that long.
Another no, costly to buy, then you get all kinds of terms and conditions so you cannot make a claim if the paint fades etc.
Hi Paul, they are taking the P------- When you start to clean the car by hand, soak it first this stops dirt scratching the paint, when dry, apply a good quality polish not rubbish, I valet cars in my spare time, so I think I think I should know.

Thanks folks. Its my first new car so I am trying to really look after it. I would love it to stay looking like it does now; i know that it wont.

I guess on balance the answer is not to go for it.

Thanks.
