6000 series radio/cd Mondeo

My i turn my radio on it plays for a very short time and then fades away,sometimes it dosnt work at all.The cd is fine and so is MW , it seems to be on FM where the problem is.I've changed the ariel base and given the ariel lead a good clean before it was screwed back to the ariel base ,any ideas ?? .Someone mentioned it was the FM receiver,is that the same as the ariel ?

I had this problem, it was the receiver inside the unit.

Purchased new CD player, cheaper than getting repaired.
