Not sure if this is the right place for this but I didn't really see anywhere else.

My Mum is eligible for a motability car, as she is unable to drive, I am currently learning in the hope that I pass my test and she can get the car. However, someone mentioned to me that you must have had your license for about a yr before you can go as a named driver. Can anyone enlighten me on this? I had rang Motability a short while back to check she was eligible and I explained I was learning etc and they never said anything about it.

They Don't mention it on the website. It just says they may be conditions.

"Proposed drivers must not have any serious driving convictions, disqualifications, or endorsements within the last five years. There are also some restrictions on drivers under 25 and those with provisional licences."

also it is likely that a driver with a drink driving conviction would be liable to a triple excess in the event of an insurance claim
as far as im aware you can nominate one driver on the policy and anybody else u want is 100, dont know if there is anything different in place for young drivers who have just passed their test.
