rover 75 diesel engine cutting out.

I wonder if anyone can help. My engine cuts out from time to time.sometimes for a few seconds.sometimes for a minute or two and I have to stop and then it restarts again no problem.Bit awkward though in traffic !!!

Hi, dirty fuel filter, Air getting into the system, have you just changed the fuel filter? did you replace the "O" seals with new? fuel line! is there a small hole in the fuel line? Check under the car for signs of a leak, is the breather in the Filler neck clear. Are the injectors leaking? there could be dirt in your tank that gets sucked into the flow line, when the engine stops the obstruction drops back into the tank thus clearing the blockage.
