What equipment MUST a car have?

I've been trying to work out what equipment a car must have to be street legal. So far I've got speedometer, audible warning, mirror (but not sure of location), wheel arches or mudguards, seat belts (depending on date of first registration).

Are there any more must haves?

Sallybowles - not particularly as I was trying to find out the LEGAL requirements but I think I might try that google one.

A steering wheel isn't a requirement - you might have a tiller

Windscreen wipers and washers aren't requirements (I think the Atom does without them).

An engine isn't required (have a boiler instead)

I don't think tyres are required either especially if you have a tracked vehicle.
