Why on earth should it annoy you when people are seeking information about the penalties for something they're going to be in court for.
I'm pretty certsain if you were charged with tax evasion or something like that the first question you'd be asking is what the penalty was!

Anyway, i am firmly on the fence - the question was " any advice" and "what do you think the penalty will be" which in my opinion calls for both factual and opinion answers
