when you say you appealed, you mean in court after the magistrate sentenced you, you filed some sort of appeal?

I can't see how any appeal can help as you already have the minimum amount of points for no insurance. presumably you pleaded guilty so I cannot seem any appeal path.

further clarification on what you mean by "appeal" may get a better answer.

they issued me with a fixed pen fee 200 plus 6, i wrote on the back of the ticket my name address and sent it 2 the courts, it didnt ask me to elaborate.
Have you paid the fine? Do you have the points? if not I'd say you're still in the system but it does seem and awfully long time. Or do you mean you pleaded guilty? Doesn't sound like an "appeal" process to me. If you're lucky they've forgotten you or lost the paperwork. As it is the fixed pen is the minimum you'd get.

when i got stopped the police gave me a yellow slip which was the fixed pen on the back of that slip it had if u want to appeal this fine write name address which i did and sent off. before i sent it i produced my documents i.e license and the slip to the station, i explained the scenario to the offer and he said i should appeal so i did, he gave me back my license on the spot and i sent the slip.

and i did not pay fine as i appealed

nice one
But check with the DVLA whether you have any points on your record (you do not have to say why you want to know).

If you do have points and have not declared them for any insurance you may subsequently have bought, the policy will be invald.

Not such a "nice one" if you cripple somebody and they cannot claim compensation from the company you thought was insuring you.
