oh good, thanks for that.
5 years
''Any penalty points incurred are valid from a 3 year period from the date the conviction was given, but must stay on the licence for an additional twelve months, so a total of 4 years.''

Isn't Google a wonderful thing...
i like google but i preffer to guess
And to add to that, most insurers will ask about points aquired in previous 5 years- so even if expired.

fabulous, thankyou very much, I am getting a fine for christmas, and another 3 points! Running out of point space so I wanted to know how long I had left before my older ones were quashed.
or up to eleven years from date of conviction if the offence is:

drinking or drugs and driving: shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80

causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs: shown on the licence as CD40, CD50 and CD60

causing death by careless driving, then failing to provide a specimen for analysis: shown on the licence as CD70

Insurance?
Careful - if you are running out of room, once you hit 12 you become a totter and then subject to a 6 month ban! (Unless you can argue exceptional hardship - loss of employment is not, strictly speaking exceptional hardship).

Insurance? You know, that thing you legally have to pay for in case you have any accidents...

Well, those people who sell it, ask about driving convictions in the past years; ie, how many points you get and what fines you paid, in order to determine how much you should pay..

And they ask about the previous 5 years, even though points dont last that long.
Serves you right knobs...
grumpii i've answered it just now.

Doesn't matter... if you have more than 12 points and you receive more your banned regardless if you give them your license or not. they have computers these days you know!

Oh and if you want answers from people probably best not to call them stupid geeks!
