what a rotton day!

my god! i nearly crashed my car this morning! i was hardly moving, litterally driving at about 2 mph, turned the wheel slightly to pull over and the car just slid!! it wouldnt stop, the wheel or the brakes did nothing!!! i was inches away from a car! luckery she was in her car and was very nice about it, as she had done exactly the same thing and seen another 2 ppl!! god the road and pavements were just blocks of ice! not grit whatsoever! i litterally slid to work then on foot!

then i get in and i take calls, well i have just got ratty horrible ppl, ( bit like myself this morning) all bloody morning!!!

anyone know how cold is has to be when they shut the schools??? i want to be prepared as weather suggests its going to be colder tonight!! im not driving again tomorrow no way especially with my daughter in the car!!

well the kids go back to school tomorrow and its going to be cold? they shut the schools down when it gets below a certain temperature, and in bad weather conditions, just wondered if anyone knew that temperature? as i think the roads will be too bad for us to drive???

and no im not a teacher, do teachers answers phones all day????

once upon a time we would be expected to go to school if the snow was 3ft deep and they never had central heating, they just used to tell you to wear your coat and stop moaning lol!

hopefully they grit, the mains roads arent too bad once they have ben driven on a bit, but the quieter roads were terrible and unfortunatly we have loads of them before the main road!!

yeah me too, the trick is to not make sudden movements, pull away in 2nd gear or even 3rd if you are downhill, pull away very slowly, keep the car moving where possible, give yourself plenty of room to brake, take your time, no slamming on the brakes or excelerator. if you lose control take your feet off both pedals and guide it with the steering wheel, dont overreact.

once you have done it a few times you will not be scared anymore, knowledge is power! ;D

Mr Funny who as you know is a school caretaker, has been putting on the heat in the school everyday over the holidays.

So this is one school that wouldn't or shouldn't be closing.

I guess some caretakers are lazy!

no.knowledge what a cool name! well driving lessons may be a excellent idea tho i fail to see how that prevents the roads from getting icey!

minus 9 sounds crazy!!! lol i think ill be getting up early and walking to work with a huge tub of salt to sprinkle in my pathway! :o)

sadly because people dont know how to drive in a few inches of snow we are the butt of most of the jokes in most countries.

Im hating it too..I had to take the kids to school this morning (Think it woudve been cruel to make them walk the 12 miles) But i was a nervous wreck by time i got to work.Steering wheel going 1 way and me wheels going other way..Then when i got to a hill i started rolling back down.You would think they,d get the gritters out,If they dont tnite then ill have to get kids up at 5 to wave em..
