BMW Automatic

I need to change my car and have seen a few 320 automatics I fancy (about 2 years old). In the back of my mind, though, I seem to remember an article saying the BMW automatic system is not very good. Have any Abers any experience with these please?

we have an automatic BMW at the moment (57 plate) and never had any problems, in fact we'd totally recommend it. Very economical, too.

Newer cars may be different, but I have a 1989 525i automatic, with almost 170000 miles on the clock. No problems whatsoever with the transmission.

Thanks for the responses. My 520 is about 10 years old now (186k) and starting to cause problems. I think it is time to change but really do want another 'beamer'. It may pay me to hang on a month or two yet though.
