remote central locking

The central locking on my X Type Jag is playing up. Sometimes it opens the door straight away other times it takes a bit of coaxing. At the moment my door will not respond, even using the key manually, also the batteries in my remote are O.K. Has anybody encountered a simular problem, and managed to rectify it. Thank you.
