I recently purchased a Golf Mk 5 and when I start up and reach about 5-10 MPH all the doors automatically lock. If I hit the release button on the driver's door, the doors release but then re-lock about ten seconds later. How can I stop this happening?

The auto-locking mechanism is a safety feature on the Golf; the doors automatically lock at about 7mph and don't unlock again until the ignition key is removed or the airbag is inflated.

If you go to 'Convenience Settings' on your MFD, there should be an option there to specify the lock settings, what doors it affects etc.
a lot of modern vehicles do this, its for anti-hijacking Originally an American thing but now unfortunately needed in this country.
yeah there is, its called 'autolocking' and you switch it on/off....
