I hope you mean the engine coolant thermostat, and not the interior heater!  -On just about all cars, the most obvious location for the coolant thermostat is where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine. There's usually a sort of box or connector there. Remove the hose -normally with a spring-type hose clamp holding it on. Then there should be 2 or 3 screws or bolts holding the fitting to the engine. Remove these, and you should find the thermostat inside there. Every vehicle is slightly different, but this is the general idea. Be sure to check the gasket or O-ring when replacing things to avoid leaks. Tighten screws to recommended torque.
