Compensation
Although nothing can compensate.I am being pragmatic.
My childrens dad -and my ex- as many will know was killed a year and a half ago whilst on his motorbike by someone who wasnt paying attention.He was entirely vindicated and she pled guilty.
They have received a letter today offering them compensation.
Now my query for all you legal brains is;
Is this a starting figure and should they re-engage their solicitor to negotiate further or when you are offered x amount is it generally a standard figure for the loss of a parent and non -negotiable?

Having been involved in a serious motorcycle accident...I also had an offer direct from the guilty parties insurance ...offering to settle the compensation claim with a return cheque.. if I accepted their offer..
I informed my solicitor who advised them, that he would see them in court,,,
The day before the court hearing ... they came back with a second offer...four times that of their first offer..
I accepted.

Thank you for that -I have spoken with my son and advised him NOT to get in touch with the Solicitors dealing as they IMO are representing the insurance company.
I have now managed to get my daughter and advised her to get right in touch with her Solicitor in the morning saying that neither one will accept.
Thank you for your advice -I just needed clarifictaion before I managed to get my daughter-she is working-but i have managed to calm her and she will get in touch with her Solicitor in the morning.
Im sorry you had a nasty one -tough call but we have have to be tough now as nothing is gonna bring their dad back. Its justice really at the end of the day and also altho money cant replace him it may enable them to have the same standard of life had he lived.
