i ve been banned since november 08 and my ban finishes in may 09 does anybody know wot happens next?

Since your ban was for more than 56 days your licence is revoked and will not be automatically returned to you.

You have to apply (and pay for) a new one from the DVLA. You can do this towards the end of your disqualification period but you must not drive until you have your new licence and the period of your ban has completely expired.
