i thought vauxhalls come with a 3 yr (60,000) warranty so it should be covered.
Not sure the reason for a 5 week wait, they must explain that to you..
i bet the clutch aint covered with a warranty - its like brake pads - tyres etc,
but 5 weeks is stupid - go elsewhere
sounds like the clutch has failed ,not worn out..certainly not at 16,000

thankx for your answers.feel a bit better now. the chap i spoke to when i dropped the car off was not at all helpful but it was 5.15 on friday...but even so.......thanks for replies.
A clutch is not a consumeable item.
They should repair under warranty, have you been riding the clutch pedal? ( Have you been resting your foot on the pedal as you drive?) If yes, that the cause. Get someone to ring the same garage as you mention, do not say anything about your problem, then ask them how long will it take to do a clutch replacement then take it from there, ( You know what I mean?) back to your Q, If they say it is not covered under warranty do not accept this, take it further.
Are you sure it is the clutch? Is it not the cable?
16000 sounds near on impossible without missuse off the clutch??should do a minnimum 35.000 with normal wear n tear.clutch is cheap, labours not as you need to split the gearbox, remove drive shafts etc.make sure you get a person that knows there job as theres a seal on the gear end thats easy broken putting the drive shaft back, then the gearbox will leak n your back to needing it removing again
