Astra 1.7 tdi year 2000 W reg.

Would really appreciate an answer.

I havent been under the bonnet of this model, i can explain how to find it (description etc). What is the problem with it anyway- do you need to replace it yourself ?

Its difficult to explain but i'll have a go: The starter motor itself it usually about 7 inches long and 3 inces diameter, (a cylinder shape), it will be mounted where the engine joins onto the gearbox, low down at either the front of the engine behind the radiator or at the back of it near where the bulkhaed is (the panel between the engine bay and the inside of the car).

It may be that the starter solenoid is stuck( this will either be mounted on the motor or very close to it) the wires will go from the battery to the solenoid, then to the motor, tracing along these will help you find the motor, try giving this a few knocks with a wooden stick.

Also check that all the connections are not loose or undone.

Hope this helps - Good luck !.
The starter motor is below the engine but I would check out certain things before doing any work. Like making sure the battery is fully charged .That the fuses are OK, If you have an immobolizer that it not armed.
